I can’t sleep: 3D printers

So I can’t sleep is basically a bunch of posts of me rambling about stuff before I go to bed.

I seriously don’t know where the 3D printer obsession came from. I cannot do 3D modeling. I’ve tried. I played with Blender way way back in 2003-ish.

Maybe this is my brain exploring new things and hobbies now that I’m single. That’s the only explanation.

Anyway, back to the 3D printer.

Initially I wanted to get a 2nd hand Wanhao Duplicator i3, the price was really decent. Too bad I just checked carousell and it has been reserved.

Then I just found out that there is a 3D printer shop close to my work place, and they open till 7pm on weekdays. Which means I can drop by after work.

Anyway change of plans. I’m sort of aiming for a Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus, which is apparently the improved version. But my room is a trash heap. And I spent the entire day at work today mentally planning my future makerspace/drone workbench/idk corner. I know where this space is going to be. I just need to clear the stuff there.

Also. I need to practice my 3D rendering, then I can make my own designs.

So … $50 a week into my printer funds, and I should have the money by end October. And if the mother’s plan to go to China for holiday end of the year works out, I am going to try my best to haul home filament. Because I can.
